Are you a young woman passionate about your community and looking to grow your leadership skills? The Albion Park Show Young Woman Competition is a fantastic opportunity to represent your region, develop personally and connect with inspiring individuals.

What is the Young Woman Competition All About?

This long-standing and highly respected initiative, formerly known as the Miss Showgirl Competition, celebrates the achievements, potential, and community impact of young women in rural and regional New South Wales. It’s more than just a competition.

Here’s what you can gain:

  • Empowerment and Development: Enhance your leadership, communication, and networking abilities in a supportive environment.
  • Community Representation: Become an ambassador for our local area, showcasing the vibrant spirit of our rural life.
  • Show Society Involvement: Deepen your connection with local agricultural shows and traditions.

 

Your Journey Through the Competition

The competition unfolds in stages, offering exciting opportunities at each level:

  1. Albion Park Show: The first step! The Albion Park Young Woman will be selected in November 2025.
  2. Zone Finals: If you’re successful at the Albion Park Show, you’ll progress to the Zone Judging, held at Warilla Bowls and Recreation Club in February 2026.
  3. State Final: Up to 16 state finalists are chosen to compete in Sydney at the prestigious Sydney Royal Easter Show. The 2026 State Final will be held from Thursday, March 31st to Sunday, April 5th, 2026, culminating in a public speaking showcase where the state winner is announced.

Are You Eligible?

We encourage all young women who meet the following criteria to consider applying:

  • You must be a woman aged 18–25 as of May 1st, 2026.
  • You must be a permanent resident of Australia.
  • You must have lived, worked, or studied in NSW for at least 3 months before the competition.

Who can't enter?

To ensure fairness and avoid conflicts of interest, you cannot enter if:

  • You’ve previously placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd at the state final.
  • You are a staff member, director, or councillor of the RAS of NSW, or a daughter of those above.
  • You are a 2026 Rural Achiever finalist.

Important Commitments

If you become our Albion Park Show Young Woman, there are a few commitments to be aware of:

  • You must be able to take leave from work or study if needed to attend judging.
  • If successful, you may be asked to represent the RAS, AgShows NSW, and The Albion Park Show Society at other events.
  • While you’ll be hosted by the RAS in Sydney for the State Final, you’ll be responsible for your own travel to and from Sydney.

Meet Kate Bourke

We are proud to introduce Kate Bourke, our current Albion Park Show Young Woman! Hailing from Jamberoo, Kate is a passionate advocate for rural life and agriculture. With a background in both mechanics and a Certificate IV in Agriculture, she embodies the diverse skills and dedication found in our regional communities.

Kate's experience spans from fencing contracting to working on a cropping station and her current role at a local dairy farm. She's also an active participant in pony club and horse sporting events, truly living and breathing the rural lifestyle. As our Young Woman, Kate is dedicated to promoting agriculture as a viable and rewarding career and volunteer pathway, especially inspiring young people in schools to explore opportunities in the sector. Her commitment highlights the empowerment of women in agriculture and showcases the vibrant future of our community.
